Our
honeymoon trip began with two days at sea as we headed down towards
the Mexican Riviera. On the upper left is a photo of Sue
Ellen and I entering the SS Enchanted Isle, which was one of
the ships on Commodore Cruise Lines. She does not know yet that
I have
been planning our wedding; hopefully she will say yes, or it
will be really embarrassing when we are called to the altar.
The remaining
five photos above are in Puerto Vallarta.
Our next stop was Mazatlan, and we had a great time; of course
by this time, I am getting a bit nervous. After all, I still never
popped the question, and the next day would be Valentine's day,
the day I was planning to be married. The trip is either going
to get much better, or much worse, really really quick.
The cruise director Frankie did approach me later that day, and
gave me an ultimatum. She told me that if I do not ask Sue Ellen
tonight, then she as the Cruise Director would not be able to spend
any more time planning the wedding. So, tonight is the night that
I must pop the question.
Of course, it will not play out exactly as planned. You see the
original plan was for us to be served a cake after dinner, on a
glass plate which had been previously etched with a special design
to match a glass cake top which was custom designed for her.
The words on the plate said "Entwined together as partners
in love for life. Sue Ellen, will you be my valentine. Gary and
Sue Ellen 2/14/1991" The new plan, as it unfolded, was to
ask Sue Ellen later that evening.
Our
next stop was Cabo San Lucas, and Sue Ellen and I were beaming
all day.
We both loved our tours, and Sue Ellen got to
hold an iguana. Perhaps "got to hold" isn't exactly how it went.
In reality, she was talked into holding an iguana.
I of course was waiting to hold her hand, and that
would be happening later that day. For now, there was still plenty
of shopping to do, and many things to see. Since this was our first
trip together out of the country,
we had plenty of arts and crafts items to see; Mexican artists
and designers have plenty to show, and trust me, are always willing
to bargain.
First of course, was our dinner with the captain.
The
dinner couldn't go
fast enough
for
us; I
was really
excited
and ready to move forward. Of course, I was pretty nervous also.
Now that we have finished dinner
with the captain, it is time to dress for the wedding, and take
our vows; the rest will soon be history.
Our honeymoon is almost over now' it is time to say
farewell to those who made this wedding special.
And now, for our final photos, as we prepare to depart
our cruise, and start our new life together.
