Well, today is November 13th, 2005,
and I'm on my way to live with my new family. It has been a really
long drive, and we are all really tired. That's me off to the left in
my new Dad's car, sitting next to my new sister Allison. I know that
looks like just an arm, but there really is a girl attached to it.
Beau and I met last month, after he drove down to Wilmington to meet
me. We got along so well, that we decided I should move in with him.
but
Priscilla
of the
Cape
Fear Golden
Rescue
Club
said I needed to stay in Wilmington until my heart-worm treatment
was complete. Ever since we met, I have had Beau-Beau on the brain.
Heart worm medicine can be really dangerous during the recovery,
so I wasn't allowed to run around until I was completely better. I
sure hope
all of you remember to give heart worm medicine to your friends, so they
do not have to go through this. It was a tough
recovery and
I had to stay in a crate the whole time to avoid heart problems.
That's Beau and me off to the right on the day we met, he's a lot bigger
than me, so it will be easier to grab his legs when we wrestle.
Everyone
says I am small, but don't believe them, it's everyone else that is big!!!
I
asked my new Dad to put in a picture of Don; that's the nice guy off
to the left. He has taken really good care of me for the last two months,
while I was recovering. He is one of a number of volunteers with the
Cape Fear Golden Rescue who foster Goldens like me, while we are waiting
for our forever family. It was hard for both of us to say good bye, but
we have been preparing for this. Now he will be able to help another
golden find a forever family.
Here I am again on the right with Beau; it is our first night
together. We decided to stay in Allison's room. Boy this room is clean.
Does it
always
look this good? (Note from Dad) HA!!!
I
think I am going to like this place. Here I am on the left with a new
stuffed toy. Not only is this family pretty cool, but so are their friends
and
co-workers.
I'm surrounded by a bunch of new toys that came from a co-worker of my
new Mom's. Thanks Paula, these are really cool.
A girl has got to have her cuddle toys, and I love stuffed
animals. Of course, I'm beginning to think that Beau is just a big stuffed
animal, so I'm sure I will enjoy holding him by the throat also:)
Now
look at this picture on the right: Is that a beautiful girl or what?
I think
they are really excited about having me; in fact
there was a huge celebration
and parade
that we watched together on TV.
It was
the talk of America: Macey's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I loved watching
it, how about you?
Off to
the left, is me and one of my favorite toys. I love tennis balls,
and can even hold two in my mouth. Now tell me of any person who can
do that. Yeah that's right, Macey Rules!!!
Well, Dad was a little slow with the updates, or should I say
that my sister Allison was a little slow with getting him some
pictures to put on-line. That's ok, because now you have a chance
to see how I've changed. Beau and I had a bit of an adjustment
getting used to each other, but now we are the best of friends.
I think
when we first met, I was really used to getting moved around, and
was also a little tired of my former brother trying to make puppies
together. Now I realize that Beau only wants to play, and that
is exactly what we do. We wrestle more today than we ever did before,
and really have a good time with it. Dad will post a few pictures
of the two of us together soon.
This
Christmas, Beau and I both got new beds, a new ball, a pull toy,
and of course some rawhide. A long time ago, a family friend
said puppies should never share rawhide, because they will fight,
but Beau and I never do. I read on this site about how Sandy used
to take the rawhide away from Beau, so I decided to try that also.
You know what, he doesn't mind at all. If I take his away, he just
gets up and takes the one I left behind. Of course, then I will
have to take that one away from him too. We usually do this a few
times before we move to something else.
So tell me, what do you think of my new bed. Pretty cool huh?
Also, take a look at my figure. I'm not skinny anymore. I've put
on about 20 pounds, and Dr. Janet says I am really really healthy.
Well, with a little help from some thyroid pills, but those are
small.
Last year, when my family got back from vacation, I started really
slowing down. They got really worried, after losing Sandy so quickly,
so they took me to Dr. Janet to find out what was wrong. We started
out a little high on the dose, which I thought was pretty cool;
I was bouncing off the walls. Now that the dose is right, everything
is back to normal.
Now this picture off to the right is just plain wrong. Allison
made a simple joke about getting antlers for me for Christmas,
and what does Dad do...Well just take a look to the right. Somebody
call the ASPCA or something, this is embarrassing. Oh well, what
is a girl to do.
Anyway, I thing it is time to go; I have more rawhide to chew.
